'm delighted to be teaching again this fall—this time from my brand-new art studio in the beautifully refurbished barn behind my home! This special space has been lovingly restored with creativity and community in mind, and I can't wait to welcome students through its doors.
If you've found your way to this page, I'm so glad you're here and hope you'll consider joining me for an eight-week acrylic painting course. Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or looking to build on your skills, you'll enjoy a relaxed, encouraging environment where you can learn, create, and connect with others.
Classes will meet on Saturday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Each week, we'll explore a new painting project while learning techniques and building confidence with acrylics. I hope you'll join me for a fun and inspiring creative journey! Read below for more details about the course. This special space has been lovingly restored with creativity and community in mind!
The New Studio
Our art studio is nestled within the restored shell of a 100-year-old dairy barn. When we purchased the property in 2015, the barn was on the verge of collapse, but we saw its potential. After years of patience, care, and months of hard work, it has been lovingly transformed into a bright, welcoming art studio and classroom where creativity can flourish. Tucked just behind the house beside the fire pit, it's a peaceful place to gather, create, and be inspired. We look forward to welcoming you into this special space and creating with you!
Join Marietta-based artist Philip Myrick for an in-depth eight-week acrylic painting course held in his working studio, located inside a beautifully refurbished barn. Designed for artists of all skill levels, this small-group experience offers personalized instruction, creative exploration, and a welcoming environment to develop your painting practice.
Over the course of eight Saturdays, students will learn essential acrylic painting techniques including color mixing, composition, brushwork, layering, texture, and developing a personal artistic voice. Each session combines demonstrations, guided exercises, and one-on-one feedback tailored to your individual goals and experience level. We will skip the Saturday of October 31st for Halloween and continue the week of the November 7th.
